WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Carlin Wallace - Producer IWC
Aidan worked as camera operator in my SCU crew covering the World Pipe Band Championships at Glasgow Green in 2018 & 2019. Aidan is a delight to work with, fast and efficient, very professional with other members of the crew & reassuring to presenters & contributors. As a roving crew we had a tight schedule to get through (sometimes in difficult weather conditions) but Aidan took it in his stride, continually offering up a wide variety of shots & cutaways, and the result was footage of a very high standard.
I'd definitely recommend Aidan for future work
Michael Buchanan - Social Affairs
Correspondent BBC News
I’m a social affairs correspondent with BBC Network News. I worked with Aidan in September 2017 on an exclusive story for BBC News, namely an investigation into the number of children who died at the Smyllum Orphanage in Lanarkshire. Aidan was a pleasure to work with and managed to shoot some fantastically creative shots despite horrendous weather conditions. He was calm, committed and engaged throughout, and the pieces he cut, for the TV News at 6 and 10PM were praised for the look and feel they had, which Aidan was instrumental in achieving. I would have no hesitation in recommending him.
Jonny Bramley - Executive Producer BBC Sport
Aidan worked as both a live and ENG camera at the European Championships in Glasgow 2018 for BBC Sport, and was an asset to our production.
Aidan is proactive and self-motivating and not only has excellent camera skills but is a trusted all-round operator in an OB environment.
WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Andrew Kerr - Political Correspondent BBC Scotland
I’ve been working with Aidan Black at BBC Scotland for four years. He is a popular and hard-working camera operator and editor. Aidan and I spent two days in Vienna on a Brexit-related piece. He was always well-prepared and armed with the latest equipment, using his own initiative to get the best possible shots. Aidan crafted the TV package on location and even edited the radio version. We were also equipped with a Live-U to broadcast back to the UK. The days were long but Aidan was patient and good-humoured throughout. He treated all our interviewees politely and respectfully to put them at ease during filming. Aidan’s professional and personable approach means he’s very much in demand.
Chris McLaughlin - Sports News Correspondent BBC Scotland
I have had the pleasure of working closely with Aidan on numerous projects over a number of years and can say with absolute sincerity that he is one of the very best. He is always an integral part of the team who brings fresh ideas, energy and incredible professionalism to everything he does. Add to that, his continued pursuit of visual excellence, combined with his first-class editing skills, and it’s easy to see why he is so highly sought after in the field.
Peter Smith - ITN Reporter
I worked with Aidan 'on the road' in Scotland and England where we had to shoot and edit for ITV News and News at Ten. He was a consummate professional: well-organised, honest, and patient. He kept his cool under tight deadlines and the finished product was always well-received.
